Don’t take chances: here’s why you shouldn’t eat these parts of chicken

3 chicken parts you should definitely avoid

Chicken has long been one of the most popular ingredients in kitchens, including Hungarian households, as it can be used in many ways and is easy to prepare. However, as with any other food, it is important to know that not all parts are equally suitable for consumption. According to a recent study, there are three parts that are better to avoid when it comes to our health.

Chicken skin: delicious, but not always recommended

Chicken skin is a favorite of many, especially when it’s nicely crispy. However, it’s worth knowing that chicken skin is almost entirely made up of fat, which isn’t the best choice if you’re trying to eat a healthy diet. Research shows that skin is not only high in fat, but it can also often harbor bacteria that aren’t completely killed even when cooked. So it’s worth considering whether you really should always eat chicken with the skin on, especially when you consider that other parts offer healthier alternatives.

Chicken lungs: not always safe

Although many people don’t think so, chicken lungs are a part that is better to avoid. The lungs are prone to the accumulation of microorganisms and parasites that heat treatment may not be enough to kill. Since the lungs can bind many substances, these impurities can remain in the meat, so they do not always ensure the desired purity. Although we may encounter them in soups, consuming lungs is not always the best decision for our health.
