Five years after graduation, Jefferson High invited them back as guest speakers.
Mrs. Thompson, now retired, sat proudly in the front row.
Noah looked around the auditorium.
“So much happened here.”
Emma smiled.
“And somehow…”
“It led us exactly where we were supposed to be.”
After the presentation, a freshman approached them.
“I’m shorter than everyone too.”
“I’ve been having a hard time.”
Noah knelt slightly so they were eye level.
“I know.”
“But trust me.”
“The people worth keeping in your life won’t measure you with a ruler.”
