How to recycle fruit and vegetable packaging

4. Turn buckets into picnic baskets.
If you have containers with lids (for example, those in which cherry tomatoes or dried fruit are sold), you can transform them into excellent picnic containers after washing them thoroughly: they are ideal for transporting food because the plastic prevents liquids from leaking out and they already have a lid. You can use them, for example, for sliced fruit, snacks, slices of cake, cheese, and cold cuts. For extra safety during transport, you can seal them with a rubber band or foil so that you know for sure they can be opened.

5. Turn it into an air freshener.
Do you want your kitchen, bedroom, or living room to smell nicer, but don’t want to spend too much money on real air fresheners? Recycle fruit bowls and make a homemade air freshener: first, decorate the bowl with paint, ribbons, colored paper, and anything that brightens it up; then, make some holes in the walls and fill them with dried flowers or potpourri, and optionally add a few drops of essential oil with your favorite scent.
