I saw a homeless man wearing my missing son’s jacket – I followed him to an abandoned house, and what I found there almost made me faint.

Since my son’s disappearance, I lived with unanswered questions. Until the day I saw his jacket on a stranger’s shoulders in a cafe — and everything changed.

Time does not erase certain absences. When a child disappears, each day becomes an unanswered question, each memory a mixture of tenderness and anguish.

For months, I continued to hope, despite the silence and the looks that gently suggested I turn the page.

Then, one ordinary day in a cafe, an unexpected detail changed everything: my son’s jacket, worn by a stranger.

The day everything changed

The last time I saw my son  Lucas , 16 years old, he was standing in the hallway of the house, ready to leave for  high school .

With a bag over his shoulder and sneakers on his feet, he simply said to me:

“See you tonight.”

Then he closed the door behind him.

Nothing unusual.

Nothing that could have indicated he wouldn’t be coming home that night.
