The House at the End of the Street
At the end of a quiet street stood an old house that no one ever came near.
During the day it seemed normal, but at night a strange light sometimes burned behind the windows.
People from the village had been telling the same stories for years.
They said that an old man lived there all alone.
He almost never spoke to anyone and rarely left the house.
Every evening he sat by the window with an old clock in his hand.
No one knew why.
One day, he suddenly disappeared without any explanation.
No one saw him leave.
The door of the house remained open, but the man was never found again.
Since then, strange things have been happening around the house.
Some people hear footsteps in the night.
Others say that the clock still ticks when you stand close to the door.
A few teenagers once decided to go inside to discover the truth.
Inside, they found old photos, dusty furniture, and a letter on the table.
The letter contained only one sentence:
