Pancreatic cancer is a type of cancer that develops in the pancreas due to uncontrolled cell growth. It is the tenth most common type of cancer in the UK.
Unfortunately, the disease is rarely diagnosed in its early stages, as symptoms only appear when the disease has progressed to a level where early intervention is no longer possible.
Symptoms usually only appear in advanced stages of the tumor. Even then, they may be nonspecific and similar to symptoms of other diseases.
Symptoms vary depending on which part of the pancreas the tumor is located in: the head, body, or tail.
The most common form of pancreatic cancer is ductal adenocarcinoma, which develops in the cells that produce digestive juices.
