A silent solution
That night I lay in bed again. The baby moved calmly and reassuringly under my hand. I placed my palm on my belly and took a deep breath.
My husband turned to me. His expression was milder than in months. There was regret in his eyes, and also something else. Realization.
He didn’t say much. But the silence between us felt different. Less dismissive. Less heavy.
I do not know what the future will bring. Change can be slow, and sometimes it does not come at all. But this I do know.
I am strong.
Not because someone finally said it out loud, but because I have always done it. Carrying life, bearing responsibility, helping myself move forward, even when others didn’t reach out a hand.
This time, someone did figure it out. And that made all the difference.
