As soon as we arrived at the San Carlos Clinical Hospital, I immediately rushed to the emergency room. The automatic doors suddenly opened and a nurse immediately came to me when she saw my worried expression.
“This is my grandson… he’s been crying for hours… and I saw something strange… please help him,” I managed to say, almost out of breath.
The nurse carefully lifted the baby and led him into an examination room. Within seconds, two pediatricians arrived. I explained what I had seen while examining his diaper, trying not to go into too much detail because I was nervous. They asked me to wait outside while they examined the baby.
The minutes seemed endless. I paced the hallway, feeling the weight of responsibility with each step. How could I, who was supposed to be taking care of him for only a few hours, end up in this situation? How could I not have noticed what was happening before?
Finally, one of the doctors stepped forward. His expression was serious but not alarming.
“Your grandson is in stable condition, but it’s good that you brought him in quickly,” he told me.
